Please bring any previous medical reports, blood test results, prescriptions, and a list of current medications. If you have a referral letter from your GP, bring that too. For diabetes patients, bring your glucometer with recent readings if available.
Type 2 diabetes can sometimes go into remission with significant weight loss and lifestyle changes, especially if caught early. Type 1 diabetes currently cannot be cured but can be managed very effectively. With proper treatment, most diabetic patients achieve excellent glucose control and live full, healthy lives.
If you have a thyroid disorder on medication, you should get your TSH and thyroid hormones checked every 6-12 months once stable. If you are at risk (family history, autoimmune conditions, neck surgery) or have symptoms, get an annual check. Pregnant women with thyroid conditions need more frequent monitoring.
PCOS is a chronic condition, but its symptoms can be effectively managed. Many women see significant improvement with the right combination of lifestyle changes, hormonal treatments, and insulin-sensitizing medications. Some women find their symptoms improve after weight loss or after menopause.
Yes, Dr. Sahu evaluates and treats children and adolescents with endocrine conditions, particularly growth disorders, growth hormone deficiency, delayed puberty, Type 1 diabetes, and thyroid conditions in children. Pediatric endocrine care is one of his areas of expertise.
